Introducing the world’s first 16 megapixel motion capture sensor, welcome to Vicon Avalon.

To improve on the performance of the MX+ and F-Series camera range would not have been possible with current technology. Building on the success of the Vicon Vegas sensor, we took the next step and extended our sensor range. Vicon Avalon – all new 16 megapixel sensor custom-built for motion capture.

HIGH SPEED AND HIGH RES
Motion capture needs both high speed and high resolution. Regular sensors can only offer one or the other but not both. Vicon Avalon enables data to be captured at a higher resolution than ever before with full frame speeds up to 120fps and resolutions up to 16 megapixels. If you need to capture data faster, Avalon can run at twice this speed. 240 fps causes the active sensor area to be windowed but even at this high rate, the window size is 8 megapixels with an aspect ratio that is suitable for many applications in large volumes.

V-SHUTTER
To ensure you get great data the Vicon Avalon sensor is shuttered using the proprietary V-Shutter, meaning it’s tolerant of on-set or laboratory ambient light. This works in conjunction with the Supersampling feature of the T-Series to reduce the effect of ambient light that often causes a problem with non-shuttered motion capture cameras.
