Vicon Nexus

Vicon Nexus is the first Life Science specific motion capture software on the market. No other package makes it so easy for users to perform daily routine tasks at the same time as it offers complete customization and flexibility to suit any situation.

Nexus 1.3, released in January 2008, builds on the functionality of previous versions by offering users more features, better efficiency, faster data throughput and more connection options than ever before.

•Support for MX Ultranet HD.
•Support for Basler GigaBit Ethernet (GigE) cameras. These cameras offer higher frame rates, better resolution and better picture quality than previous generation cameras.
•Customizable toolbar buttons which let you set up one-click buttons to execute pipelines, change the visual appearance or choose what data to display.
•C3D export enhancements, including the ability to export parameters as well as 3D marker residuals.
•3D workspace enhancements, including more intuitive control of the trajectory editor cones.

Nexus 1.3 is available for customers to download from Vicon Online Support.

Nexus 1.2 is released as of September 2007, providing users more efficiency, better stability and new functionality. The highlights include:
• Improved labeling and reconstruction performance – including the ability to automatically mask out ghost markers. Two parameters have been added to allow you to optimize reconstruction to suit your capture environment.
• The capture pane now displays the currently active session, and allows you to click through to the data manager using a hyperlink.
• MKR files are now automatically generated when you create labeling models, for enhanced backwards compatibility with Vicon BodyBuilder.
• Hotkeys have been added to access commonly used functions such as the view options and to reset the core processor.
• You can now calibrate reference video for 3D overlay whether it is captured on the Nexus PC or on a separate reference video PC.
• A new SDK is now available for integration of real time data into 3rd party applications. Developers can take advantage of a simple, yet powerful new interface that allows access to all key real time data: unlabeled and labeled markers, kinematics and analog data.

Nexus 1.1 was released in April 2007, offering users extended functionality and enhanced performance. New feature highlights included:
• Protocol Builder. It is now easier than ever to create a step-by-step protocol for common tasks such as camera calibration, subject setup, data capture and data processing. Simply use the protocol builder to specify and customize each workflow step before linking them together.
• Static Labeler. You can now use the new static labeler to automatically label the static trial, removing the need to do any manual labeling at all.
• Batch Processing. The new, easy-to-use batch processing interface lets you run a specific pipeline process on any number of trials, which saves you having to do repetitive work.
• Plug-in Gait Segment Visualization. This shows you the calculated segment coordinate systems alongside the markers when you have run the Plug-in Gait model.
• 3D Overlay Burn-in. Save the seamless video 3D overlay information onto the AVI, allowing you export the overlaid video to other applications.
• Capture Volume Visualization. Specify your intended 3D capture volume and have it overlaid on the 2D camera views as you are pointing the cameras – this makes it easy to optimize camera positions.
• ZeroWire EMG digital connection. The ZeroWire EMG system can now be connected to Nexus using the digital USB connection instead of the standard analog interface.

Benefits

EASY TO LEARN, EASY TO USE
Nexus saves you time by offering you unprecedented levels of usability. The interface guides you through all stages of preparation, acquisition and review. The days of searching in obscure menus for the functionality you need have gone; Nexus has the buttons, menus and controls where you expect to find them. Nexus has been designed according to modern user interface principles so have fun exploring and using the attractive interface.

NATIVE REAL TIME
Nexus is real-time to its core so that you can view all data in real time, all the time. If you add a camera to your system, no need to tell Nexus, it will tell you. The Health Monitors, unique to Nexus, will inform you if something unexpected has occurred in real time and after a long day’s capture you won’t get any nasty surprises with Nexus, you can check the quality of your data as it is being measured.

SEAMLESS VIDEO
Nexus is the first software application on the market to seamlessly integrate digital reference video - significantly enhancing your usability and analysis process. But that is not all – you are also able to overlay 3D information on the video image, for example the force plate ground reaction force vector or the calculated 3D marker positions. You can choose from a variety of digital video cameras, using both DV and DCAM standards.

CUSTOMIZE EVERYTHING
Another great thing about Nexus is you can make it work the way you do – pretty much everything can be changed to suit your needs. The all new Protocol Builder enables you to create your own wizard-based workflows to simplify the use of Nexus even further and perform common tasks step by step.

PAST PRESENT, FUTURE PERFECT
Your existing data will be safe as Nexus offers both backward compatibility and a platform built for the future. Nexus is fully compatible with Plug-in Gait and Plug-in Modeler so there is no need to change your processing protocols. Data captured with Nexus can also be seamlessly transferred in to Vicon Polygon for reporting – just as you would with Vicon Workstation. Although the past is firmly present in Nexus, equally important is the fact that Nexus has been designed for the future. Nexus is the platform for exciting new developments in the months and years to come.
