MOTUS DIGITAL ACQUIRES VICON MX-F40 SYSTEM

Dallas-based Animation Studio Installs Advanced VICON Motion Capture System for Animation and Visual Effects Projects

Los Angeles, CA (August 7, 2007)—VICON, developer of Academy Award®-winning motion capture systems, announced the sale of a 24-camera

F40 system to Motus Digital. Motus Digital will be using the VICON cameras to work on various internal animation projects—allowing Motus to become a one-stop shop for CG animation and visual effects.

Motus Digital purchased a VICON system to operate as a fully-functional motion capture service bureau and animation facility for a wide range of clientele in film, games, television and commercials. The facility also plans to develop internal animation projects in the future.

“We have worked with a number of VICON Motion Capture Systems over the years and always appreciated the relative ease of calibration and operation of their systems; not to mention, they capture great data,” says Shane Williams, Producer & Creative Director, Motus Digital.

“Industry pervasiveness associated with the quality of both VICON’s Motion Capture System and that of their crew sealed our decision. Simply stated, we feel VICON’s dominance in this industry speaks for itself; therefore, the choice to go with VICON was an easy one,” added B. Keith Brock, Partner, Motus Digital.

The VICON F-Series cameras represent the world's first and only optical cameras to include proprietary sensors that were custom designed for motion-capture applications. The new cameras are part of the award-winning MX platform from VICON, with the F standing for "Faster Full Frame" motion capture. The VICON F40 camera is capable of capturing 370 frames-per-second at 4 million pixels.

“The high resolution of the MX cameras and the advanced shuttered sensors of the new ‘F’ series make them truly awesome performers on the technical side,” commented Crispin Broadhurst, Mocap Supervisor & Technical Director, Motus Digital.

“We’re very excited that Motus Digital is building out a VICON-based motion capture studio in Dallas,” said Tom Armbruster, Business Development Manager, VICON. “The animation community for film, television and games is thriving in the region and we look forward to seeing the work that this incredibly talented team will be producing.”
