BRIAN RAUSCH JOINS VICON HOUSE OF MOVES AS VICE PRESIDENT OF PRODUCTION
Former Senior Manager at Sony Computer Entertainment of America Brings Over Ten Years of Motion Capture Pipeline and Animation Production Experience
Los Angeles, CA (February 20, 2008) —VICON, developer of Academy Award®-winning motion capture systems, today announced that Brian Rausch has joined the company as Vice President of Production for VICON and VICON House of Moves. Rausch comes on board from Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA) where he most recently served as Senior Manager of the Visual Arts Services Group.
Rausch has over 10 years of production experience, with a heavy specialization in motion capture and animation. In his most recent post at SCEA, Rausch oversaw 50 employees and managed the digital models group, motion capture, video services and cinematics teams. He spent seven years at SCEA, first as a technical supervisor and later as the manager of motion capture and scanning. SCEA is a fully functional production and animation facility that serves as a vendor to any developer publishing games via Sony. While there, Rausch worked on high profile projects including Lair (in-game motion capture and cinematics), God of War (mocap for pre-rendered cinematics), along with multiple titles in Sony’s SOCOM, MLB and NBA franchises.
Rausch cut his teeth in motion capture while working in the Philippines as a CG Supervisor for an animated television episodic entitled The Ramayana. After spending three years on the production, he joined motion capture service bureau Spectrum Studios as a Performance Animation Supervisor and spent one year there prior to joining SCEA.
“Brian is incredibly talented, and having been one of the most demanding customers of our motion capture systems and software for many years now, is a perfect fit for the company,” said Robin Pengelly, Senior Vice President, Entertainment Division, VICON. “Not only is he very well versed in all aspects of motion capture production and pipeline technologies, but he has extensive animation production experience in television and games that makes him uniquely positioned to approach projects and evaluate technology development from the perspective of a customer in the field.”
In additional to overseeing four divisions at SCEA, Rausch implemented a world-class motion capture stage at the San Diego operation from scratch. He also oversaw the design of the facility’s production pipeline and rebuilt the game cinematics team from the ground up. In this capacity, he worked very closely with VICON to integrate the company’s motion capture and mo-cap pipeline software solutions.
“The teams at VICON and VICON House of Moves have been like family for many years now. We’ve worked hand-in-hand on many projects, and I’ve provided input on several of the company’s new technology developments,” said Rausch. “VICON is a very nimble and aggressive company and I’m excited to introduce new customers to the simplicity of working with motion capture and exposing them to the latest tools. I’m also looking forward to getting involved in future technology developments and expanding the production service slate at VICON House of Moves.”
